| Archbishop Gebhard von Helfenstein began construction of the castle then fortress in 1077, in 1462 Burkhard II of Weißpriach built the ring shaped walls and towers. A group of farmers, miners and townspeople tried to seize the castle in 1525, they tried to throw out Prince Archbishop Cardinal Matthäus Lang, this was the only time the castle was put under attack |
